At A Glance

This Mortal Shell II bosses page is the named-fight sheet for Mortal Shell II from Cold Symmetry / Playstack: break posture, then execute. Red means dodge. You wear one Seal. Sidearms spend Resolve — they are not a stamina substitute and they are not a cheese. A studio-total count stays TBA; the names below are the ones this wiki will log. Which bosses are story vs hidden?

Scan this roster when a search asks “all Mortal Shell II bosses” or “how many.” This page names the fights we can confirm. It does not publish a fake total. Story gates unlock a shell. Hidden trophy names sit on platinum lists even when the pin is still TBA. Early named fights can be optional-ish and still matter because they teach the Seal.

Story means a Shell, not a lore dump

Beat the Warden and Eredrim joins the eight. Beat Sariel, The Endless and the Sariel host joins the eight. Those two kills are wardrobe gates, not optional portraits. The rest of the playable roster unlocks by corpse, delivery, or dungeon — shells holds those walks. This page only cares that two bosses are the reason a host appears on the Keeper list.

Hidden trophy is a name, not a walkthrough pin

Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods is the hidden fight this page can landmark: an Etching Needle chest sits immediately before her arena. The other eight hidden names are confirmed as trophy bosses. Their rooms stay TBA until a recapture pins them. Do not treat a name on this table as a map marker. Achievements tracks the trophy; this table tracks the fight kind.

Tar Golem is the search question, not a secret closer

Community search already asks how to beat the golem / Tar Golem, where it sits, and whether you can fight it again. Treat it as an intro / tutorial-style named fight until a later pass logs a re-fight. Location stays TBA. Same win rule as every row: posture, then execute. Same red rule: dodge. A re-fight answer that is not confirmed is not an answer — it is a guess, and this page will not guess.

Once you can split those rows, the first fight worth a drill is the one sitting on Widow’s Overlook — not a hidden name you cannot walk to yet.

How do I beat Great Arbiter of Flesh?

Great Arbiter of Flesh is the early named fight this wiki will actually teach. It sits near the Widow’s Overlook beacon. It is the Harden demo: absorb the swings, dodge the grab, bank Resolve, execute. It is optional-ish — you can walk the overlook without treating it as a story gate — and it still drops Arbiter’s Prize. Do not invent HP, a phase count, or a damage type for this arena.

Great Arbiter of Flesh fight — Harden punish and execute window

Harden the swings, dodge the grab

Equip Vatra (Harden) unless you already read every wind-up and want Infinite Parry on a clean 1v1. Untarnished is legal if you are still learning, but this fight is the reason Vatra exists in the opening kit: absorb a string, stagger the attacker back, cancel mid-swing if the Light is already out. The grab is the exception. Treat the grab like a red: dodge it. Do not Harden a grab you have not confirmed is absorbable. After the dodge, Harden the follow-up swings that are not a grab.

Resolve is a poke, not a magazine

Nail Shot and later sidearms spend the same meter as a Shell ability. One or two shots to finish a stagger or to poke a grab window is the legal spend. Emptying the gun because the camera is ugly dumps the ability you needed for the break. Hits, kills, and successful Harden refill Resolve. Spend it on purpose. The combat page is the meter sheet; this arena is the exam.

Execute when posture gives, then take the Prize

When posture breaks, riposte (Heavy or Light — both are legal) or take the execution. An optional easier setting can refill HP from executions; default combat does not assume that heal. After the kill, log Arbiter’s Prize — it is an Infusion tarstone, not a second melee. Slot rules and the Bloodcurse spend live on that page. This page only needs you to pick the stone up instead of walking off the overlook.

If the break never comes, you Guarded a grab, you dumped Resolve, or you wore Infinite into a messy string. Swap Seal at the Beacon, walk back in. The next named fight that actually has a landmark is Magdalena — and the chest in front of her is the reason to care before you swing.

Before the next named fight

Matched by build plan, shared topics, and guide progression — not random related links.

Where is Magdalena and why does the needle chest matter?

Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods is a hidden trophy boss. Official beta copy already pointed players “onward toward” her, so the name is not a leak — the pin is still TBA. The landmark this wiki will trust: an Etching Needle chest sits immediately before her arena. Loot that chest on the way in. Franz needs needles at the Tarforge. Walking into the Lady without the chest is how a trophy hunt also wastes an upgrade key.

Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods — opening tell in the woods arena

Chest first, arena second

Stop at the chest. Take the Etching Needle. Then enter. If you die in the arena, you still wanted that needle in inventory before the attempt, not after a later “I will grab it on the way out” that never happens. Franz etches tarstones with needles; the stone catalog is not this page. The only boss-adjacent fact is the placement: needle chest, then Magdalena.

Do not invent her kit

This page will not publish a fake move list, HP, or a weakness table for Magdalena. Opening tells stay on the capture note until a recapture times them. Use the same qualitative rules as Arbiter: one Seal, dodge reds, break posture, execute. If the wind-up is clean 1v1, Infinite. If the room gets messy, Vatra. If you are still eating the first swing, Untarnished. Swap at a Beacon before you walk the woods, not mid-string.

Hidden is not the same as late

A hidden trophy boss can sit off the Beacon road the walkthrough uses. That does not make Magdalena a NG+ only name. It makes her easy to miss. The other eight hidden names on the roster — Lost Child, Nameless Captive, Sir Isaac the Scholar-Prince, Hexapod, The Monolith, Droeg the Conquerer, Malborn Offspring, Orrem the Reclaimed — stay TBA for location. Do not copy a pin from a list that did not walk the room. When those pins land, they get their own rows; they do not get invented HP today.

If you came here from a Magdalena weakness query: there is no invented element table on this wiki. Posture is the job. Prep is the next section — Seal, Resolve, rest — not a leaked resistance chart.

What should I prepare before a named fight?

A named Mortal Shell II fight is a Seal exam plus a Resolve exam. It is not a stamina check and it is not a co-op stack. Rest at the nearest beacon, lock one Seal, and stop dumping the gun. The table below is the mid-page call: which Seal for which mess.

Rest, then walk in once

Corrupt Beacons are not a wardrobe. Cleanse, rest, change Seal, change shell if the next job wants a different host, then walk the arena. Eredrim after the Warden is a tank you earned; he is not a mid-combo costume. Tiel or Proxima from Widow’s Overlook is a legal first body for Arbiter. Glimpse spend still belongs on shells — do not open a third talent tree because a hidden name scared you.

Bring a locked melee, not eight +1s

Iconoclast to about +3 / +4 is the opening weapons spend. Later finds often start around that mark, so the smith time is not wasted. Weapon skills spend Resolve — the same meter as sidearms. If you panic-fire Nail Shot, you do not have the skill. Pair host and blade on builds; this page will not rank a fake “boss killer” list.

Difficulty knobs change feel, not the roster

Optional easier: executions refill health. Optional harder: “turn off the sun.” Neither adds co-op and neither invents a new boss. Camera can be Immersive or Action; the break rule does not change. Single-player only — there is no raid cheese and no summon sign. If the last death was a red you Guarded, that is the next section, not another Tarforge detour.

How do I read red attacks and posture?

Dodge red. Break posture. Execute. That is the whole named-fight loop. Exact posture thresholds stay TBA. Damage types stay off this page. The combat article is the Seal + Resolve sheet; this section only applies it to a boss camera.

Red is a veto on Guard

Untarnished Hold Guard and Perfect Guard are for uncolored tells. A red wind-up is the game saying the Guard plan is illegal. Community read: reds are unblockable. Whether Vatra Harden also fails on red stays TBA — do not plan a first-cycle absorb on a red grab until you have seen that hit land on a trash enemy. Roll, then resume the string. Infinite Parry gets the same warning: a parry on red is a hit if the unblockable read holds.

Posture is the kill, not chip

Hits and timed Seals move posture. A Perfect Guard, a landed Parry, or a Harden that breaks the bar is the riposte cue. Executions come when posture is broken. Do not dump Resolve into a sidearm in that window unless one poke finishes the break. The follow-up is melee. Optional execution-heal is a difficulty setting, not a hidden boss mechanic. If the bar never moves, you are on the wrong Seal, you Guarded a red, or you spent the meter on panic shots.

Guns do not replace the Seal

Nail Shot is a Resolve tap. Later guns follow the same tax. A named fight that looks “ranged” is still a posture fight; the gun is a poke. Sidearms is the roster. Tips is the habit list. Here the one line is: bank Resolve for the ability that breaks the boss, then spend. When that loop is consistent, the leftover questions are the FAQ — then the Beacon road on the walkthrough and the platinum names on achievements.

FAQ

How many bosses are in Mortal Shell II?

A studio-total count stays TBA. This page names confirmed fights: Warden, Sariel the Endless, Great Arbiter of Flesh, Tar Golem, Magdalena, and eight more hidden trophy names. Do not treat that list as a complete numbered roster.

How do I beat Mortal Shell II bosses?

Break posture, then riposte or execute. Dodge red attacks. Equip one Seal. Spend Resolve on a Shell ability, weapon skill, or a poke — not a panic magazine. Exact HP and phases stay unpublished here.

How do I beat Great Arbiter of Flesh?

Near Widow’s Overlook Beacon. Harden the swings, dodge the grab, shoot only to bank Resolve, execute when posture breaks. Drops Arbiter’s Prize. Optional-ish early exam, not a story Shell gate.

Where is Magdalena in Mortal Shell II?

She is a hidden trophy boss, the Lady of the Woods. The pin stays TBA. The landmark: an Etching Needle chest sits immediately before her arena — loot it on the way in.

Why does the Etching Needle chest matter before Magdalena?

Franz uses Etching Needles at the Tarforge. The chest is immediately before the arena, so grabbing it is part of the walk, not a later errand. Upgrade details live on the tarstones page.

How do I defeat the Tar Golem in Mortal Shell II?

Treat it as a tutorial-style named fight: same posture break, same red-dodge, one Seal. Location stays TBA. Do not invent a weakness chart.

Can you fight the Tar Golem again in Mortal Shell II?

Re-fight is TBA. Search asks it; this wiki will not guess a second arena.

Where is the Tar Golem in Mortal Shell II?

Location TBA until a recapture pins it. It is intro / tutorial-style, not a hidden closer we have walked.

What does beating the Warden unlock?

Eredrim the Venerable — one of the eight playable Shells. The Warden is a story gate, not a hidden trophy row.

What does beating Sariel, The Endless unlock?

The Sariel Shell. The boss and the host share the name. Beating her is the gate, not a side pickup.

What are the hidden Mortal Shell II trophy bosses?

Magdalena the Lady of the Woods, The Lost Child, The Nameless Captive, Sir Isaac the Scholar-Prince, Hexapod, The Monolith, Droeg the Conquerer, Malborn Offspring, and Orrem the Reclaimed. Locations TBA except Magdalena’s needle-chest landmark.

What do Mortal Shell II bosses drop?

Confirmed here: Arbiter’s Prize from Great Arbiter of Flesh (Infusion tarstone). Other drops stay TBA. Do not trust an invented loot table.

Which Seal should I use on Mortal Shell II bosses?

Infinite (Parry) on telegraphed 1v1. Vatra (Harden) when adds or angles are messy. Untarnished (Guard) while you learn. Dodge reds on every Seal. Full swap table is on this page and on combat.

What do red attacks do in a Mortal Shell II boss fight?

Dodge them. Do not treat a red as a normal Guard. Community: unblockable. Whether Harden fails on reds is TBA.

Is there a Mortal Shell II bosses co-op cheese?

No. The game is single-player. Optional execution-heal and “turn off the sun” change feel, not player count.
